Effective March 27th, 2020, ForwardHealth Wisconsin (including Quartz HMO) now allows for online and phone therapy. Wonderfully, this is a permanent change, and will not go away after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Blackstone Therapy continues to offer therapy online and over the phone. I believe that counseling should be accessible to everyone regardless of ability or transportation. I am committed to providing quality, evidence-based care for you and your family.
So, this is covered by insurance?
Yes, ForwardHealth (non-HMO) and ForwardHealth Quartz now fully cover teletherapy services. Note: I cannot predict how long this will be for.
I don't have insurance or insurance you take - can you still help me?
Absolutely. I provide services on a sliding-fee scale designed to meet your needs. You can ask me about this in our free-consultation meeting. My fees are transparent, with no hidden costs.
How does teletherapy work?
Teletherapy mimics face-to-face counseling through video conferencing, similar to FaceTime or Skype. Once you are set up as a client, I will send you a link (via email or text, based on your preference) that will take you to my teletherapy software through Theranest. This is a web-based service, requiring no apps or software to be installed in order to use it. You can use a computer or mobile device. Internet access is required.
Will it be weird?
Maybe at first. In this time of social distancing and quarantine it might be more 'normal' than you might think. Clients have found after the first few sessions, the weirdness goes away. Teletherapy works surprisingly well as a alternative to in-person counseling.
Is it secure, like digitally? Can people see us online?
Theranest is one of the most secure teletherapy platforms being used by counselors today. No one else will be able to access our sessions. It is designed for security, functionality, and confidentiality. I would not use it if it was not 100% secure.
I'm interested, can we meet so I can check it out?

I have people ask me - 'Does therapy online actually work?' - It really does, and many people are taking advantage of how convenient it can be to schedule into their lies. Less time driving, more time with the people and doing the things you care about.
